You’ve paid good money to get solar panels installed—so you want to make sure they continue to operate at their best. A TTEC solar system health check ensures your solar system is configured to work as efficiently as possible.

Here’s what’s included.

Visual inspection

Our team get up onto your roof to check for any signs of cracking, discolouration, or damage on the panels, as well as loose wiring, corrosion, or burn marks that might impact their performance.

Panel clean

We carefully remove dust, dirt, animal droppings, and debris from the surface of your solar panels to ensure they’re working at their best.

Inverter inspection

We check your inverter for error messages, faulty connections, or warning lights.

Electrical component check

This is a health check both inside and out. We inspect the wiring, connectors, and junction boxes for loose connections, wear, or faults, and check circuit breakers and fuses.

Performance monitoring

After doing a component check, we then compare your system’s performance to the expected output, based on system specs and recent weather conditions, and investigate and resolve any potential issues.

Battery check (if installed)

If you have one, we take a look at your battery to check its health, charge level, cycling, temperature, and look for any wear on the casing and connections.

Monitoring system review

We take a look at your system monitoring app to ensure it accurately tracks your solar energy production and consumption, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

Report

Once all this is complete, we provide you with a detailed system performance report, including any issues we found and recommendations for any repair or adjustments. This report is essential for warranty purposes and long-term tracking of your solar system’s health.

FAQ

How much maintenance will my solar panels need?

While you shouldn’t get up on your roof and clean them every day, we do recommend regular maintenance to ensure their optimal performance and longevity. And it makes sense: if your panels get dusty, dirty, have debris land on them, or receive any cracks, they won’t work as efficiently. The good news is that we take care of this for you. We recommend getting your solar panels cleaned and inspected annually, so you can make sure any potential issues are identified before they turn into problems.

What are the signs that my solar system might need repairs?

The signs aren’t immediately obvious, but you may start to notice a drop in system performance or energy production, or higher than usual electricity bills. You might start to see error messages on your inverter, no lights, or no screen activity. If you’re on the roof, visible damage to your solar panels is a clear sign they need repairs. However, you don’t need to do this yourself. Get in touch with our team and we’ll take care of it for you.

Can solar panels be repaired, or do they need to be replaced?

It depends on what’s wrong. Minor issues such as loose wiring or faulty connections can generally be repaired. A damaged panel may need to be replaced entirely, depending on the extent of the damage.

Does cleaning my panels improve performance?

Absolutely. Dirt, leaves, bird poo, and other debris works to block sunlight from reaching your solar cells, reducing their electrical output. A gentle clean with water once a year or so works wonders to make sure nothing is blocking their sun.

Is solar system maintenance covered under warranty?

Solar systems are long-term investments, and most solar system providers offer performance and product warranties. While these include the usual issues like manufacturer faults, external problems or issues may not be included. Always be sure to check the terms of your warranty first.
